Designer Bio:
I grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the second largest city in the
state. I was blessed with the good fortune of having a wonderful
family and good friends growing up in the midwest.
|
For more than ten years I have lived in the DC Metro Area,
but Fort Wayne is still home. I try to get back to visit family and friends
a few times a year.
I completed my undergraduate degree at Antioch College in Yellow Springs,
Ohio. My undergraduate degree was a self-designed major: Communications
and International Relations. I met my wife, Lara several years out of
college. At the time we met she and I were both thinking about moving
out of the area. Shortly after Lara finished her Masters Degree at University
of Virginia we got engaged, then we got married and now we have a dog
"Chaucer".
For more than eighteen years I have been a photographer.
I have worked for art studios, newspapers and the Discovery Channel. This
work in photography was my foundation for work in film, video production
and post-production which I have been doing for more than fifteen years.
Finally, all this media work naturally led to my deep involvement in new
and electronic media during the last ten years.
I spent five years working for the Discovery Channel developing better
ways for them to leverage their vast media libraries by developing the
metadata, schema and super-catagories for all of their digital media.
My last two years with the company I worked in and managed the Digital
Media Lab.
This was my workshop for learning and teaching many of the new software
and hardware tools for non-linear editing, multimedia applications, streaming
media, compression, and other technologies we adopted early like HDTV.
During the past two years, I have done contract and consulting work for
Univision, Fox, Greenpeace and a couple small internet and multimedia
companies
As you already know, I am currently working on my Master's degree in Instructional
Technology & Design from George Mason University. I will be graduating
in May 2003.
I am hoping to find work utilizing my strong electronic and visual media
background with instructional design.
New areas of interest are SCORM Conformance and Section 508 Compliance.
